Thierno Amadou Ba

A spiritual heritage at the service of progress

Having become Khalife in adulthood, Thierno Amadou Ba has been able to combine religious heritage and modernity, advocating an integrated approach to spiritual, social and economic development. Deeply attached to Sufi values of peace, solidarity and justice, he has directed his leadership towards concrete actions for local communities, youth, women and the diaspora.

Academic commitment and intellectual influence

Recognized for his influence beyond the religious sphere, Thierno Amadou Ba was honored by Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis in March 2022 for his contribution to religious diplomacy and social cohesion.

In 2023, he signed a strategic partnership agreement with Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar (UCAD), through the Public Policy Institute (IPP). This partnership enabled the organization of a forum on religious diplomacy, a prelude to the International Conference on Religious Diplomacy (CIDIR) scheduled at UCAD in April 2025.

Religious diplomacy and international influence

Engaged in global interfaith dialogue, Thierno Amadou Ba regularly conducts diplomatic missions in Europe and North America. During his 15th European tour, he met with high-level political and religious leaders in France, Spain, Belgium and Italy, with a notable audience at the Vatican on October 3, 2024.

In November, he was received by the Holy See, accompanied by a delegation of academics and representatives from all religious communities in Senegal.

In the United States, he was made an honorary citizen by the city of Memphis and the Association of Black Mayors of the State of Georgia, in recognition of his spiritual and humanitarian influence.
